Wood Badge learning emblemThe Wood Badge experience is unique to each participant. Whether you’re a Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Committee member, Commissioner, district or council-level volunteer, Wood Badge is for you. Wood Badge draws from the best leadership models in America and applies them to the Scouting program.

You’ll play the role of a Scout as he bridges from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, and then spends his first month in a troop. Experience first-hand the life of a new Scout as he struggles through the stages of team development while learning new skills. You’ll understand how the different programs of scouting all work together to develop our youth. You’ll pick-up contemporary leadership concepts that will help you maximize your effectiveness as a leader, and have a great time in the process.

Wood Badge is a two weekend course – the first weekend is focused more on leadership skills instruction, and the second weekend is focused on practicing these skills. After the course, you’ll continue applying these skills in your own Scouting activities through a process known as “working your ticket.”  Your ticket consists of a series of goals you set for yourself to strengthen Scouting in your home unit, district, and council.

The 2020 Course is scheduled for the weekends of September 18-20, and October 10-12, 2020 at Camp Herms.

Treat yourself to this adventure. You and the youth around you deserve it!

The cost for this course is $250. Applications with full payment will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis until the course reaches the capacity of 48. Alternates will be placed on a stand-by list.  Registration will be open until September 7, 2018, or until the course reaches capacity.

For current Wood Badge course information and to register for the 2020 Course, see our Council website.
